CropIn Announced As The Winner Of The World Bank 2020 Innovation Challenge

April 2020 – CropIn was announced as the winner in the “Bring Your Own Agriculture Data Challenge” category, as part of the 2020 Innovation Challenge for Food Security & Agriculture Risk Financing, organised by The World Bank. The challenge aimed at harnessing new technology and data to address the food security and risk assessments in agriculture in the Southern African region.

The challenge drew participants from 33 countries who submitted 120 proposals. CropIn’s AI- and ML-based platform, SmartRisk, was nominated as a solution to the challenge, and was selected based on its unmatched performance as an ICT platform that enables farmers access to risk and financing instruments. CropIn won the award for building large and smart datasets through its innovative ICT-driven data collection techniques, that enables farmers access to risk and financing instruments.

The CEO of CropIn, Krishna Kumar expressed his delight on the win, “We thank the jury for recognising our work in the Southern African region and we acknowledge the honor. This recognition adds to the belief in our innovations and motivates to strive hard towards our vision.”, he added.
