December 2020 – CropIn bags an award in the Successful Fundraiser category of the Chiratae Ventures Pride Of India Awards this year. CropIn was recognised for its impeccable work in improving farmer livelihoods through its path-breaking farm management innovations.
Sudhir Sethi, the founder of Chiratae Ventures, explained in an interview with Business Insider, “We are looking at AgTech much more strongly than before. We are looking for companies that are solving large scale challenges. Today, there is a company called CropIn, which is using satellite imagery and can detect the health of the crop, disease onset and quality of the soil. Effectively, our concept of tech has changed and we are looking for such deep tech startups that COVID has given a tailwind,” Sethi added.
The awards ceremony recognizes and celebrates the outstanding achievements of the Chiratae Ventures (Formerly IDG Ventures India) portfolio companies through the year, and recognized CropIn for its work. The award was felicitated by Chirantan Patnaik (Manager, Venture Capital at CDC Group plc).
The virtual award ceremony was hosted by Karan Mohla, Executive Director and Head of Consumer Media and Technology, Chiratae Ventures, and brought together investors and founders from across the world.
