August 2020 – CropIn has been announced as a winner in the COVID-19 Innovation Grand Challenge organised by Millenium Alliance this year under the category “ Unlocking Agriculture from the Covid-19 freeze in Ethiopia”.
The challenge addressed by CropIn was the growth and need to accelerate agriculture transformation in Ethiopia to protect the sector from unprecedented situations including climate change, locusts and COVID crisis all of which are bringing Ethiopian farmers and their families at a much larger risk of survival.
CropIn proposed to provide a data-driven tech solution to 100,000 small and marginal farmers in seed selection, supply, advisory support and market linkage services during the Kharif season through the SmartFarm™ Platform. The end result of this implementation would be a robust business engagement of farmers and value chain which can be scaled up for benefitting millions of farmers in the Indian and African geographies. CropIn also proposed to set up a comprehensive digital platform to educate farmers, enable them with advisories and linkages.
Krishna Kumar, CEO, CropIn congratulated the team and expressed his delight, “CropIn is excited to be a winner in the Millenium Alliance Challenge and would like to thank the organisers for the recognition. The current global situation due to COVID crisis has made the lives of farmers more challenging than ever before. The need for technological intervention is now more than ever and CropIn’s solutions have always been crafted keeping in mind the betterment of the livelihood of farmers worldwide. We look forward to implementing our solutions to help farmers cross the hurdles COVID-19 has created for them through the support of Millenium Alliance. ”
